Porsche 991.2 Oil Catch Tank | Carrera T, Carrera S & GTS
Billet aluminium oil catch tank designed for Porsche 991.2 3.0-litre twin-turbo models, helping reduce oil vapour entering the turbocharger and intake system.
The crankcase ventilation system on the Porsche 991.2 can allow oil-laden vapour to travel into the turbo inlet and intake tract. Over time, this oil mist can leave deposits through the turbo inlet pipework, compressor area, intercoolers and intake system.
The Genome Design Porsche 991.2 Catch Tank is fitted inline with the crankcase breather system to intercept and collect this oil before it reaches the turbo inlet.
For standard road cars, tuned 991.2s and vehicles regularly used on track, it provides a simple preventative upgrade designed to help keep the turbocharger and intake system cleaner.
Designed, machined and finished in Britain.

Why Fit a Catch Tank to a Porsche 991.2?
During normal engine operation, crankcase gases containing a fine oil mist are routed back through the intake system.
On the 991.2 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine, this oil vapour can travel towards the turbocharger inlet and through the charge-air system.
The Genome Design catch tank adds an additional stage of oil separation, collecting oil before it reaches components such as the:
-
Turbocharger inlet pipework
-
Compressor area
-
Intercoolers
-
Charge pipework
-
Intake tract
The amount collected will vary depending on mileage, engine condition, driving style and vehicle use.
How Does the Genome Design Catch Tank Work?
The catch tank is installed inline with the factory crankcase ventilation system.
Oil-laden vapour passes through the tank before reaching the turbo inlet, allowing oil to separate and collect inside the tank.
The remaining crankcase gases then continue through the system as normal.
The collected oil can be drained easily during routine servicing using the integrated drain.
Designed for the Porsche 991.2 3.0 Twin-Turbo
This is not a generic universal catch can adapted to fit a Porsche.
The Genome Design catch tank has been developed specifically around the Porsche 991.2 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine and its crankcase ventilation system.
Each tank is CNC-machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminium and finished in black anodising for a discreet, factory-style appearance within the engine bay.
O-ring sealing provides a secure assembly, while the easy-access drain makes regular maintenance quick and straightforward.

Porsche 991.2 Carrera GTS
If you are unsure whether the catch tank is suitable for your Porsche, please contact Genome Design with your model, year and registration or VIN.
Suitable for Tuned & Track-Used 991.2 Models
A catch tank is particularly worthwhile on vehicles regularly subjected to higher engine loads, increased boost or track use.
We recommend considering one for cars running:
-
ECU calibration
-
Increased boost pressure
-
Performance exhaust upgrades
-
Sports catalysts
-
Intake upgrades
-
Regular fast-road use
-
Track use
It is equally suitable for a standard car where the owner simply wants to take a preventative approach to keeping the intake system cleaner.
Catch Tank Maintenance
We recommend checking and draining the catch tank at every routine service.
Vehicles used regularly on track or driven particularly hard should be checked more frequently.
The integrated drain allows the collected oil to be removed quickly without dismantling the system.
Porsche 991.2 Catch Tank FAQ
What does an oil catch tank do?
An oil catch tank separates and collects oil from crankcase vapour before it reaches the turbocharger inlet and intake system.
This helps reduce oil contamination within the turbo inlet pipework, intercoolers and intake tract.
Does a catch tank increase power?
No. A catch tank is primarily a preventative maintenance upgrade, rather than a direct performance modification.
Its purpose is to help keep the turbocharger and intake system cleaner over time.
Is a catch tank worthwhile on a tuned Porsche 991.2?
Yes. Cars running increased boost or regularly subjected to higher engine loads can particularly benefit from additional oil separation within the crankcase ventilation system.
Is it suitable for track use?
Yes.
Track use places the engine under sustained load for longer periods, so we recommend checking and draining the tank more frequently on regularly tracked vehicles.
Is the installation reversible?
Yes.
The Genome Design catch tank installation is fully reversible and does not require permanent modification to the vehicle.
What is the catch tank made from?
The tank is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminium, black anodised and O-ring sealed.
It uses 25mm inlet and outlet connections and includes an easy-access drain.
Can Genome Design fit the catch tank?
Yes.
The catch tank can be professionally fitted at Genome Design as a standalone booking or alongside servicing, tuning or other workshop work.
